GolfingTips:Score Better On Your Game With This Advice

So you want to try your hand at golf? Do you know anything about this sport? Do you know about all of the different kinds of clubs that you can use? Do you know what entails a great golf swing? If these questions raise more questions than you can answer, try looking at the tips below.

Remember to twist your body to get a great golf swing. If you hit the ball straight on, without twisting your body, you will never get the force behind the ball that you need. A proper twist will help your ball to go further, and your swing to be more accurate too.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to make sure that you are aware of the type of concessions provided on the course – if any. This is important, because you will need to bring snacks or beverages, if none are available on the course. You don’t want hunger pangs half way through a round!

Improve your short game by visiting some three-par golf courses in your area. Many golfers are too focused on taking that long perfect drive off the tee and neglect to put enough effort into improving their short game. Three-par golf courses can be even more challenging than regular golf courses. If you don’t make it onto the putting green with your drive, then you either have to chip the ball in for a birdie or make your putt on the first attempt in order to make par. Improving your short game can drastically reduce your handicap.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to make sure that you always take the wind speed and direction into consideration. This is important because the wind can cause your ball to carry quite a bit in either a positive or negative way. Use the wind to your advantage when able to.

When your ball is in a fairway bunker, a good rule of thumb is to figure out what club you would normally hit at the distance you are away from the hole and then take two clubs more. The sand deadens your shot, and by taking more club than you would normally hit, you will end up on the green.

Do you now understand what makes golf? Do you know about clubs and how to use them? Do you now know what it takes to make a great golf swing? If you have an idea of how to answer these questions now, then you have read and understood what it takes to become a better golfer.

  1. Spice up your next round with the guys by putting a little reward on the line. Establish a prize of drinks or lunch and add a little more zest to your game by having more on the line with each putt than just your individual score. The prize does not have to be worth a lot, simply playing for something can give just the right injection of excitement to your normal weekend round.

  2. Always keep an extra ball in your pocket. This way, if you hit a poor shot into the water or out of bounds, you can take the ball from your pocket and hit your penalty shot quickly without holding up your playing partners by having to go back to your bag or cart to get a new ball.
