  1. Avoid the incorrect thinking that proper weight shift means working your weight from one side of your to the other, thus resulting in leaning backward and then forward. Instead, consider the weight shift more of an idea of transferring the weight from one leg to to the other. Approaching the shift in this way eliminates the extraneous motion that often leads to bad shots.

  2. Everyone wants to be able to one or two putt the green instead of the old three putt. Usually this occurs when the first putt is just not fundamentally sound. This can happen when during a long putt you are concentrating on accuracy instead of distance. Aim near the hole and concentrate on distance. Then, you will have a better chance of actually being closer and can hit your next putt.

  3. Before you take any shot from the tee, fairway, or rough, double-check to see the whereabouts of the group in front of you. Don’t assume that if they aren’t in the fairway or on the green that they are out of reach. They may be in the trees or behind a hill, and if you don’t wait you could hit them with your shot.

  4. If you are concerned that your ball may be lost or out of play, do not walk over to the area where you hope to find it without an extra ball in your pocket. If you end up not finding your ball and you don’t have a replacement then you have to walk all the way back to your cart, slowing down the round for your partners and those behind you.
