Golf Tips That Can Improve Your Game

Fast-paced sports definitely have their following in the world, but some people enjoy a more measured, calmer type of game. When you want to get away from life’s everyday hustle and bustle, you may turn to the golf course. Here are some tips you can use to improve your overall game.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to make sure that you follow your ball after you hit it. This is extremely important so that you do not waste time by looking for your ball. If you have trouble tracking your shots, you may ask somebody else in your party to assist you in locating your shots.

Make sure that you are connecting with the bottom part of the golf ball. If you swing too high, you will deny your shots any loft and end up “topping” the ball. To fix this, you can place some sort of coin beneath the golf ball and practice connecting with it. Overall, be sure to swing for the bottom of the ball.

When swinging the golf club, watch your left knee. Does it collapse toward the right knee? This is a common beginner mistake that affects balance. Try imagining your left knee going toward the target on the back swing. If you have trouble with that, imagine holding a basketball between your legs while you swing.

To get a strong swing going, you have to use all of your muscles, particularly your trunk and legs. Simulate the cracking of a whip while you swing your torso around and push your feet firmly against the ground. The energy for the arched swing begins in the feet and is transferred up through the legs and into your trunk and arms.

Keep your eye on the ball! This is repeated in every sport, but is also true in golf. When swinging, keep your head down and look at the ball, and follow its motion as you finish your swing. This helps line up your body in the right position for straighter shots.

When done correctly, golf can be a pleasurable experience to play and to watch. When done incorrectly though, it’s a hazard just to stand out on the course. You might be tattooed by a runaway white ball. If you use these tips, you can rest assured that you won’t put a speed-knot on someone’s forehead with a stray! Employ these tips and improve.

  1. You have to make sure you turn your shoulders and hips correctly. This is called “coiling.” If you do not turn properly then you are not going to hit full power. In order to maximize your drive potential, you must learn to “coil” properly. Practice with an instructor or tape yourself swinging and practice doing this without hitting the ball.

  2. A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to make sure that you allow for moisture conditions when playing. This is important because the wetness of the ground you are playing on will have a direct impact on how your ball bounces and rolls. The wetter it is, the less distance you will get after making contact with the ground.

  3. If controlling and judging distance in your putts is a problem in your golfing, try this easy practice to get the hang of it. Try taking a golf ball in your hand and rolling it to the hole, taking note of the amount of energy it takes to get it just right. Then try using that information with a golf club.

  4. A great golfing tip for beginners is to be aware of the position of your feet. This can make a huge difference as to where the ball goes once you hit it. You should always aim to have your feet in alignment with the ball. To do this, place your club down at your feet so that the club is touching your toes. Whatever direction the club is pointing to is where the ball will go.
